Equipment Training Workshops

These workshops will be held at Cornell University to train and update participants in the use of the CIBT DNA and Protein Kits.  Participation qualifies you to borrow the related equipment from CIBT’s Equipment Lending Library.  Please note that each workshop can only accomodate 20 participants.

Breakfast, lunch, and in-service credit will be provided.

DNA Profiling

In-Service Hours:  6

During this session, teachers will be introduced to the use of DNA in forensics.  The CIBT lab uses actual DNA and restriction enzymes.  Participants will do a restriction enzyme digestion of plasmid DNA, then separate the DNA fragments electrophoretically on an agarose gel.  The results simulate a DNA profile and demonstrate how this type of evidence is prepared and interpreted.
